Travelife’s Marvelous Tribute to Japan

The vitally energetic Travelife magazine, which comes up with inventive ideas each time, deserves kudos and acclaim for having presented “Japan Night”. For us, it was a ‘must-attend’ event.  My husband Rupert and I share the same feeling of endearment towards Japan – a place of superlatives – with its food, the sights, culture and people; plus the constant development in the world of technology and style. Our fondness may be attributed too to the fact that we travel regularly to Tokyo to visit our daughter, Liezl who resides there with her husband Yuki and our two adorable grandchildren.

The sublime travel powerhouse Christine Cunanan, publisher and editor-in-chief, came up with an impressive degustation menu, its ingredients specially flown in from Japan and prepared by leading Japanese chef, Chef Hiroyuki Fukata of Dusit Thani’s Umu restaurant.  There was a performance by young Japanese geishas, called maiko, who flew in from the Yamagata Prefecture in Northern Japan, sponsored by Japan Airlines.  Pido Villanueva reconstructed the beautiful sakura environment, with a cherry blossom park, complete with weeping cherry trees, a pond and a Japanese bridge.

Presented in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan and Dusit Thani Manila, ‘Travelife Japan Night’ was a celebration of strength of the Japanese people, a year after the great earthquake, and to promote the country’s beautiful sites, more particularly, the cherry blossoms which shall be in full bloom anytime now.    (Do visit me in and like me in Facebook – The Lady HB)
