People have great admiration for those\u00a0who,\u00a0despite age,\u00a0just keep\u00a0on\u00a0going,\u00a0imbued\u00a0with\u00a0a personal\u00a0mantra of\u00a0work and\u00a0fun, of sharing,\u00a0and\u00a0more.\u00a0A\u00a0role model,\u00a0a gentleman of unwavering\u00a0passion,\u00a0and with\u00a0laughter\u00a0as\u00a0big\u00a0as his heart,\u00a0Don Ado Escudero\u00a0celebrated his\u00a085th\u00a0birthday\u00a0at his famed Villa Escudero\u00a0hacienda.\u00a0Known for its idyllic setting and graceful ambience,\u00a0with\u00a0its babbling brooks\u00a0and turn-of-the-century house,\u00a0this year\u00a0Ado\u00a0celebrated with an\u00a0\u201cAll Day All Night,\u00a0Come As You Are and\u00a0When\u00a0Convenient Party.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was\u00a0a breakfast till\u00a0dinner affair,\u00a0which started\u00a0with mass\u00a0celebrated by\u00a0Fr.\u00a0Mercurio\u00a0at 8 a.m.\u00a0and\u00a0which culminated in a fashion show and entertainment numbers\u00a0at\u00a0midnight. All these and Ado\u00a0hardly\u00a0showed\u00a0signs of exhaustion.\u00a0For the past 30\u00a0years Ado\u00a0has\u00a0celebrated his milestones, throwing parties,\u00a0and\u00a0sparing no expense in the pursuit of\u00a0fantasy,\u00a0with\u00a0doses\u00a0of opulence.\u00a0The genteel man said:\u00a0\u201cAll my parties have been very well attended by friends who enjoy\u00a0the same things\u00a0in life. Since I met\u00a0Patis Tesoro\u00a0in 1980,\u00a0we\u2019ve thrown themed parties and\u00a0most of them required costumes.\u201d\u00a0His curiosity knew no limits\u00a0and in his moment of nostalgia he recounted his past legendary\u00a0parties\u2014the\u00a0Hawaiian Grand Luau, Hollywood Take It Away, The\u00a0Phantom of the Opera, Archie Comic Book, South Pacific, the\u00a0Carnival in Rio,\u00a0and the most recent before this year\u2019s bash,\u00a0the\u00a0Carnival of the Four Continents.<\/p>\n

The fresh country air\u00a0and sunlight contributed to a\u00a0relaxing atmosphere,\u00a0and this feeling\u00a0of well-being\u00a0is\u00a0what beckons\u00a0one\u00a0to Villa Escudero.\u00a0In the middle of this\u00a0hacienda\u00a0stands his home filled\u00a0with rich and varied antiques\u00a0and heirlooms,\u00a0with\u00a0his collection of pigs, and with\u00a0many art and decorative pieces. Ado has found the best of all possible worlds with his\u00a0objets d\u2019art, chandeliers,\u00a0exquisite\u00a0porcelain,\u00a0silver and crystal,\u00a0surrounded with treasures that have all\u00a0appreciated over time.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0sumptuous\u00a0dinner\u00a0menu\u00a0was prepared\u00a0at the adjacent\u00a0tent. After dinner invitees proceeded to Ado\u2019s\u00a0house for an impromptu program, headed by the indefatigable\u00a0Imelda Marcos.\u00a0Emcee was the professor\u00a0Al Genove. Renowned pianist\u00a0Ingrid Santamaria\u00a0rendered two concertos and accompanied\u00a0Ado\u2019s\u00a0nephew\u00a0AP Limpot,\u00a0who\u00a0played the violin.\u00a0Not to be missed\u00a0were musical numbers by\u00a0Tony Marino,\u00a0former star of\u00a0The King and I\u00a0in Australia\u00a0and\u00a0Diva\u00a0Dulce,who\u00a0captured everyone\u2019s attention with his\u00a0outstanding repertoire.\u00a0The\u00a0group of\u00a0Ima Castro,\u00a0Lloyd Umali\u00a0with\u00a0Zaldy\u00a0Villapando\u00a0provided\u00a0the\u00a0music.\u00a0The fashion show\u00a0was a gift of Ado\u2019s\u00a0friend\u00a0Ramon Sabella\u00a0who happens to be\u00a0one of\u00a0the\u00a0biggest\u00a0retailers\u00a0of women\u2019s wear at SM.<\/p>\n

Ado\u00a0is\u00a0incredibly inspirational. He continues to do\u00a0his part to\u00a0make the world a better place. He assists in the restoration of their cathedral and other edifices of ancient structures. He has been\u00a0part of the grand\u00a0Marian procession of Intramuros,\u00a0from its\u00a0founding to the present, and is involved in ongoing\u00a0activities\u00a0and\u00a0community projects. He\u00a0manages\u00a0Villa Escudero Plantations\u00a0and Resort, as he\u00a0feels a personal\u00a0commitment\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0community\u00a0with his\u00a0hundreds\u00a0of employees.\u00a0A workaholic,\u00a0he is\u00a0involved with the\u00a0\u201cSamahan ng Mahal na\u00a0Pasyon\u201d for the perpetuation of the Holy Week\u00a0processions in San Pablo\u00a0City, Laguna. \u00a0Ado\u2019s presence at Villa Escudero is an irresistible magnet to his countless friends, and no\u00a0matter how\u00a0late\u00a0it was,\u00a0we left\u00a0this\u00a0sanctuary\u00a0with\u00a0a\u00a0fond\u00a0memory.<\/p>\n
