Overwhelming in magnitude, one hundred mural-size portraits were installed at the long stretch of the Gallery of The Peninsula Manila. Taking four days and nights to construct, with hundreds of plywood done by a team of twenty men, this was the recent “Fa-laabvlous II” photo exhibit and table book launch of iconic photographer Rupert Jacinto. A dazzling success, his oeuvres are triumphs of ecstatic intricacy with the theme of art and royalty.
Undeniably another award-winning book (the first Faaabvlous book won the Best Printing Coffee Table book Award by the Printing Association of the Phils.), book editor Mayenne Carmona included profiles of the subjects with stories of success and strength. Co-presented by The Peninsula Manila and Air France-KLM, the event was presented in partnership with the Advertising Foundation of the Philippines, in support of the Love-A-Parish Program of Sto. Niño de Paz chapel, which aids needy churches across the country.
Once again, guests had a fascinating look at how superb artist Jun Jun Ablaza dramatized the Pen Gallery with human-size statue lamps, gold and black pillars, topped off with black feathers. His penchant for fantasy is his signature, and to complete the Ablaza touch, strands of translucent stones were used for the ribbon cutting. The “Fa-laabvlous II” event had the support of HP Philippines, Inc., Manny O. Wines, CGK form-a-print, CWC International Corp., FILA, O.N.E. Naturales, GA Printing, MaxiOne Production, RJ 100 and Triple R Large Format Co.
