It was an evening of spectacle when some of Manila’s biggies gathered for cocktails and show at the internationally famed ‘Cirque du Soleil’. In the spirit of “the circus comes to town” celebration, Lifestyle Asia threw a big bash to commemorate its 24th Anniversary. The effortlessly chic Anna Sobrepena, Lifestyle Asia’s Editor in Chief, organized this prelude to their grand Silver Anniversary which shall take place next year. Lifestyle Asia of the Mega Publishing Group supports and contributes to various charitable causes, from environmental concerns to educational development efforts, and this was their way of ‘giving back’, for the continued success of their prestigious magazine.
Forget about the typhoon and the accompanying inconvenient logistics, the guests braved the storm for the pre-show party and performance. As cocktails were ongoing at the VIP Tent, Grand Chapiteau, outside it was raging downpour, strong winds and flood. Anna had said a few days later that 90% of the guests had attended. It was timely too, that the invitation had read “Attire: As Appropriate”; Margie Floirendo, who attended with daughter Gabby, came prepared, with a bright yellow rain jacket; and so did Mariano Garchitorena, the Pen’s top P.R wiz, who came with Sonja Vodusek, the new genial General Manager of The Peninsula Manila. Afterwards, the guests had to make a short walk to the Main Tent, and with the torrent rain and puddle, it was done with careful finessing.
