One of the most colorful events of the season was the “2012 Islamic Fashion Collection”. Presented by the Embassy of Malysia, it was held recently at the Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Inter-Continental, Manila. The gala evening was graced by the presence of Her Royal Highness Raja Puan Muda Perak Raja Nor Majani. Also present were Malysian Tourism Minister Dato’ Sri Dr. Ng Yen Yen, and Dato’ Rezza who came with wives of cabinet ministers.
Launched six years ago by a man of royal descent, Dato’ Raja Rezza Shah had the vision of showing the world, the beauty of their culture through fashion. Flowing fabrics, regal embroidery and stately designs were beautifully combined to create a sophisticated and glamorous look. The festival has, since then been met with international acclaim, and has been staged in key cities of the world.
An ultimate form of collaboration was achieved by top fashion designers from Kuala Lumpur and Indonesia, Melinda Looi, Syaiful Baharim, Tom Abang Saufi and Milo Migliavaccca. They were joined by their Philippine counterparts, JC Buendia and Jun Escario. Veejay Hughes, flew in from London to render musical numbers, much to the delight of the audience. On hand to welcome the guests were H.E. Dato’ Seri Dr. Ibrahim Saad, Ambassador of Malysia to the Philippines and his gracious wife, H.E. Datin Seri Dato’ Zainab Abdul Kader who spearheaded logistics for Manila. Assisting them were members of the IFF Manila organizing committee Tina Maristela Ocampo, Doris Magsaysay-Ho, Consul General Fortune Aleta Ledesma and Tingting Cojuangco.
