Lifestyle Asia’s associate publisher and deputy editor Cheryl Tiu proudly mentioned in her speech, that the first and oldest glossy magazine in the country has continued to be a market leader for the fifth straight year. In celebration of their 25th Anniversary, a “Black Swan” Gala dinner was held at the ballroom of the Makati Shangri-la, attended by society notables.
Editor in Chief Anna Sobrepena, looking resplendent in a Cary Santiago creation, explained that the black swan was a metaphor – a rare event with far reaching effects long after it has transpired; and rare, not only for its 25th year milestone, but also for the fact that the occasion had brought out very private individuals who rarely attend social functions. The evening’s proceedings included President Sari Yap announcing their new name: One Mega Group; and Chairman Jerry Tiu awarding glass plaques, designed by Impy Pilapil, to Lifestyle Asia’s 25 top advertisers.
An ingenious and distinctively conceived tree installation by Latorre Cruz provided the visual centerpiece, with dangling envelopes containing seeds; symbolic of Lifestyle Asia’s advocacy of planting trees for every page of the magazine. Cocktails started with Moet, Belvedere and Grand Marnier and guests were treated to performances by Ballet Philippines, George Yang, Miguel Zubiri, Chris Tiu, Stephanie Reese and Bea Tantoco.
