Child Protection Network 2019: More Fun in Giving
The saying “None of us is as good as all of us” aptly applies to the formidable group led by the leading light of Child Protection Network president Irene Martel Francisco who has made this fundraiser a yearly success. Taking major leaps, Irene made headlines with her genius of raising P 6,713,000 in one evening, through an auction and generous donors. At the forefront of it all were CPN founder/power couple David and Katherine Bradley who flew into town for the occasion, and where the Child Protection Network‘s loyal supporters partied at the elegant Raffles and Fairmont Makati ballroom. For the past six years, Raffles and Fairmont Makati, with its amiable GM, David Batchelor has supported CPN‘s fight against child abuse in the Philippines as one of its advocacies.
Irene welcomed the 150 guests and introduced the forceful video. To accelerate the work of the building of Women and Child Protection units (WCPU) auctioneers, Dr. Randy Francisco, Atty. Kat Legarda, Atty. Tonico Manahan motivated the moneyed elite to draw from their pockets. At present 106 units are found in 54 cities and provinces. CPN’s goal is to provide victims of child abuse with medical, psychological and legal aid. The impressive auction selection lured in bids from the well-heeled invitees, the items of which were the following: Solaire fab package; a weekend staycation at Amanpulo; and Valfond week’s stay; and on jewelry: earrings designed by passionate jewellery lover Duday Tuason, vintage Patek Philippe watch, Jewelmer pearl pendant; vintage earrings from Riqueza jewellery; Happy Catering for ten; AWC Philippines wine; lunch for four at Antonio’s in Tagaytay with car and champagne.
The CPN fellow movers included: Mia Borromeo, Renna Angeles, Atty. Kat Legarda, Mons Romulo, Karina David and Johnny Velasquez who shared the honors with Irene. Sponsors were Raffles and Fairmont Makati, Philippine Tatler and Sta. Elena Construction. The well-crafted dishes from executive chef Anne-Cecille Degenne complemented perfectly the variety of cocktails and bubbly that were served. Music was provided by DJ Cocoy Puyat.
